Cookie notice

This notice explains which cookies and similar technologies www.theuph.com uses. The site is run by Oakbridge Consulting & Media ApS, CVR 46273095 (see our Privacy policy).

In short: an ordinary visit to our site sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser (no localStorage or sessionStorage). Only when you sign in as a member does our site set two login cookies, which are strictly necessary to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies, social-media pixels, third-party cookies or any other tracking on this website. Strictly necessary cookies, which are needed to provide a service you have asked for (such as staying logged in), do not require consent under the Danish cookie rules (cookiebekendtgørelsen § 4, stk. 1, nr. 2). That is why we do not show a cookie banner.

1. Cookies we use

The member login cookies are set only on www.theuph.com, and the staff cookie only on our Ghost admin address. None of them is used to track you across other websites, and no third party sets cookies through our pages.

2. Things we deliberately do not do on the website

  • No YouTube cookies. We link to YouTube rather than embedding videos. Nothing loads from YouTube unless you click a link and leave our site for youtube.com, where YouTube's own cookie rules apply.
  • No affiliate cookies on our site. We never set them ourselves. Links to bookshops are marked "Advertisement"/"Reklame". If you click one, you leave our site. Kobo links go via Rakuten Advertising's redirect page and Saxo links via Partner-ads' redirect page. The network and the shop (Amazon, Kobo or Saxo) may then set their own cookies on their own websites, under their own cookie policies, to credit us for a sale.
  • No payment or shop scripts. We do not sell anything on the site, and no payment code loads on our pages.
  • No "how you found us" tracking. We have switched off Ghost's member-attribution feature, so nothing is stored in your browser for this purpose.
  • No website statistics. We do not run visitor statistics on the website.

3. Content from other servers

To show our pages, your browser fetches some files from servers other than www.theuph.com:

  • Ghost, which hosts our site: images from storage.ghost.io, and the sign-up pop-up's settings from united-publishing-houses.ghost.io (our Ghost account's address).
  • jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net), a public content delivery network run by Volentio JSD Limited (UK), which delivers the code for Ghost's sign-up/sign-in pop-up and our site search.

Like any server that delivers a file, they receive your IP address and the information your browser sends with the request (such as browser type and the page that requested the file). They do not set cookies or store anything on your device. Our font is served from our own site. How Ghost and jsDelivr handle this data is explained in our Privacy policy (§2 and §6).

4. Our emails (newsletter)

  • We do not use tracking pixels to see whether you open our emails.
  • We do not record which links you click: click tracking is switched off, so links to our own pages go straight to them.
  • Links to our own pages may carry a campaign tag that is the same for every reader of that issue.
  • Links to shops are marked "Advertisement"/"Reklame". Kobo and Saxo links pass through the affiliate network's redirect page and carry our partner code and a tag for the issue, never anything about you. The network's and shop's own cookie rules apply on their websites. Our emails contain no Amazon links.

5. Managing cookies

You can delete cookies and block them in your browser settings. If you block the login cookies, you will not be able to stay signed in as a member, but you can still read everything on the site that does not require signing in.

  • Et almindeligt besøg på hjemmesiden sætter ingen cookies og gemmer intet i din browser.
  • Kun når du logger ind som medlem, sætter vi to login-cookies (ghost-members-ssr og ghost-members-ssr.sig, 184 dage eller til du logger ud). Vores egne medarbejdere får en login-cookie i administrationen (ghost-admin-api-session). Cookierne er strengt nødvendige og kræver ikke samtykke (cookiebekendtgørelsens § 4, stk. 1, nr. 2).   • Nogle filer hentes fra Ghost (storage.ghost.io og united-publishing-houses.ghost.io) og fra jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net, koden til tilmeldings-/login-vinduet og søgningen). De modtager din IP-adresse, men sætter ingen cookies.
  • Links mærket "Reklame" går via affiliatenetværkets omdirigering (Rakuten Advertising for Kobo, Partner-ads for Saxo) eller direkte til Amazon. Netværket og butikken kan sætte deres egne cookies på deres egne sider.
  • I nyhedsbrevet måler vi ikke åbninger, og vi registrerer ikke, hvilke links du klikker på. Kampagne-mærker i links er ens for alle læsere.
